If there’s one thing most people can’t stand, it’s junk mail. We peer down at it with annoyed eyes and then proceed to tear it up and pitch it to the garbage can. It doesn’t really matter how much of it we receive, there is always more coming and we never stop hating it. Well, now times have changed and the junk mail has expanded from our postal service to our E-Mail inboxes. While we no longer have to tear it up in a mad fury, we now have to filter constantly and transfer the junk mail to a trash folder. Sometimes this can get really ugly and complicated.
I was setting in front of My PC the other night thinking about an article to write to warn people about the devious methods that hackers and crooks are using on the internet to gain sheer profit at our expense when I received an E-Mail from a so called lawyer in the United Kingdom. The E-Mail stated that a distant relative of mine had died in an accident and there are no apparent aires to his estate. This gentleman lawyer took it upon himself to set out and find the next of kin. He informed Me in His letter that I was the next of kin and all He needed at this time was to verify My E-Mail address and Name. I went along with little game because He already knew My E-Mail address and I will guaratee you it is not difficult to find a person’s street address searching on the internet.
The next day I received another E-Mail, this time a little more in depth. Now the lawyer gave me a little more detail about the large sum of money that I would be able to claim by submitting some more detailed information to the court. This information was to be used by the courts to assertain that I was in fact the next of kin to this rich deceased man. The lawyer was still not asking for any information that a person, if they set thier mind to, could not obtain from the internet. I sent him the requested information to find out what his next move was going to be.
Sure enough in the last E-Mail I will ever receive from this so called gentelman the ball dropped. He told me that the court needed my Social Security Number and Bank account information. The information was to be sent directly to the court so as to protect my identity. See this man had my best interests at heart. God bless him. In as polite a manner as I could express myself to this gentleman, I informed him to take his money and put it where it would do more good, I have plenty thanks anyway and do not contact me again about this matter.
If there was only a way that email account holders could block unwanted email. Of course you can block unwanted email in this day and age. Come on; it’s the 21st century. All it takes is the right software and/or email account. Take hotmail for example. Although these email accounts are free, you are still offered features that allow you to block unwanted email and junk from ever coming in. One of the best ways to do this is by copying the individual email address that continually sends you junk mail. Go to options and select block sender. You can paste the email address right in there and it will never be allowed to send anything to you again. Pretty simple huh. Naturally other email programs such as Gmail and Outlook have similar features. In short, no matter which email account you’re using, you can likely block unwanted email easily.
Naturally there is always unwanted junk mail coming in from various email addresses, which are switched constantly so you’re unable to block them all. When this occurs, you should consider marking all unwanted emails as junk. This way your email account software will start recognizing them as junk mail. After awhile these irksome emails will be regularly directed to your junk mail, as opposed to your inbox. Lastly, while you can’t always block unwanted email, you can take some action to prevent it from coming. If you’re receiving constant ads, you should scroll to the bottom of the messages. There is commonly an opt-out or unsubscribe link at the bottom. These allow you to have your email address removed from their list of countless others.

Boot sector virus removal can be a tricky business as these are some of the most evil kinds of viruses. They reside in your boot sector, the part of your computer that is responsible for loading or “booting”. As soon as your computer is turned on, the virus is already loaded into memory. This can be a hugh problem, because a cleverly designed boot sector virus can convince your computer that there is no virus at all when it loads. The best way for boot sector virus removal is to make a backup “clean” disk. This disk loads your computer when you insert it in the drive, so it is not loading from the boot sector, which has been contaminated by a virus. This way, you can load your computer virus free, and then clean the virus off of it.
The best way to prevent boot sector virus removal is to switch operating systems away from Microsoft Windows. Windows is the only system which is commonly infected by viruses. They almost never strike macs and linux machines at all. This is because windows is badly programmed. If, for example, you get an email with an attachment, it is designed to automatically open the attachment and to follow its instructions even if they put your computer in danger! Mac OS and Linux both have safeguards built in to protect you from these problems, but Microsoft doesn’t care about anything except about whether or not their system looks pretty and they are making money.
Boot sector virus removal isn’t the only protection you might need on your computer. You need spyware removal and hacker safeguards as well. Spyware is a little like viruses, but much less harmful. When you visit certain websites with spam, they will put a program in your web browser which keeps track of your information and sends it back to them. It follows what websites you go to, what you buy, etc., and uses it to market things to you. It also slows down your computer and opens pop-up windows which you don’t want to see repeatedly, which is very distracting and annoying. Some adware can even divert your web browser, sending you to websites you don’t want to see, and stopping you from getting to the ones which you are trying to get to. Fortunately, these harmful nuisances are easily removed using one of any number of commonly available adware removal programs.

Is your computer at risk of being invaded by hackers that are surfing the net to invade your privacy and personal information.
None of us would want an intruder breaking into our home, right? Of course not, but exactly the same thing happens to our computer. In fact, there is an even greater risk of somebody breaking into our computer than our house. The fact is our computer contains information that is very valuable to fraudulant hackers.
Hackers have become extremely devious in getting their hands on the sensitive data stored in your hard drive. They are high tech criminals and the scary thing is you can’t see or hear them. It is very hard for most of us to understand just how destructive internet hacking is. The reason is because this kind of criminal is faceless and nameless.
Their presence goes completely undetected until it is too late to do anything about it. We are sitting ducks just waiting to be hacked. The majority of us do not have the IT know-how to protect our personal computers against prying eyes.
Internet hacking is enough to give anybody the creeps. Just imagine a complete stranger having access to your most personal information? Internet hacking is enough to send shivers up and down your spine. We don’t have much choice when it comes to storing sensitive information. Read the rest of this entry »

Now more than ever professional home Internet security is important for the conscientious computer user of the 21st century. Chances are if you’ve bought a new computer within the last five years it has come pre-installed with some sort of security software.
Unfortunately these software solutions are not ideal for keeping you protected; in fact they could be doing more harm than good. What it essentially boils down to is the fact that the software solutions that come pre-boxed in your computer are inadequate at keeping up with the ever-changing threats of the Internet.
